- 1). Chop 3/4 cup fresh herb or 1/8 cup dried herb. Finely chopping the herb will facilitate infusion of the plants properties into the oil.
- 2). Place 1/8 cup dried plant material or 3/4 cup fresh herb into a sterile 1 pint mason jar.
- 3). Add 1 cup of olive oil.
- 4). Seal the jar with a lid. Label the herbal contents and the date.
- 5). Place the jar in a sunny location for 10 days. Shake daily.
- 6). After 10 days, strain the plant material from the infused oil. Cheesecloth or a colander (strainer) with a coffee filter works well for this.
- 7). Place the infused oil in a dark jar. Label with the herbal contents and the date of preparation.
- 8). Use within one year of infusing the herbs into the oil.
