How many of you were around in in 1972 when little known entrepreneur Bob Snow announced that he would be creating an entertainment complex in Downtown Orlando?
From 1974 to 1982 ,Snow created a world class, night-time complex of entertainment, dining, drinking, dancing and shopping. At the time it was ‘The Place’ for locals and tourists to see and be seen. In 1985 Church Street was even touted as being the fourth largest tourist attraction in the state.
Remember the famed ‘Nickel Beer Night’ at Rosie’s or the disco dancing at Phineas Phogg’s? They were fun times that thrived during the 70’s and 80’s but eventually the tourists started to favor the closer nightlife at Disney’s Pleasure Island and later on, that of Universal’s CityWalk. In the 90’s even the locals started to loose interest in Church Street Station as more clubs and bars opened up around town.
