- 1). Get stock feed from Google Finance. Access Google.com and click on the “More” tab, then scroll down and click on “Finance." To get a quote on a given corporation, type in the ticker symbol (shorthand name for a corporation) or the full name of the company into the search bar at the top of the page. Real-time quotes will appear for that company. Above the chart, click on any stock data sources desired, such as Dow and NASDAQ. Return to the main Finance page and look at the live news feed to the right for more general news updates. Click on the links that appear to read the articles.
- 2). Use FreeRealTime.com to get constant, by-the-minute quotes. Type in the company’s ticker symbol in the search bar at the top. A page will appear with quotes to the minute; refresh the page to get a new quote. The page gives a disclaimer that data comes at a delay of 15 or 20 minutes, depending on the source.
- 3). Check real-time quotes on the Wall Street Journal website. On the main page, find the Market Data Center box to the right and toward the top. Click on the tabs , such as "US" or "Currency/Rates," to see the overall directions of local markets. Click the “Quotes” link under the chart to search for company quotes. On the right column under Company Research, click on the search box and type in the ticker symbol or company name, then click “Symbol(s)” or “Name.” (Using the ticker symbol will more likely get a search result; WSJ.com has trouble finding companies by company name.) Select the national market in which the company works and click the arrow. A chart, quotes and a live news feed will appear.
- 4). Get data straight from the source. For example, the NASDAQ offers live quotes on its website. Search for company quote pages with the Get Stock Quotes box, using any of the tabs listed, which include news before and after market hours as well as when the market is moving. Go back to the main page and browse the top business news stories on the left column. Access general market indexes in the right column. Download and use the “Heatmaps” option available in a column box on the right toward the bottom of the main page.
