Not everyone follows the activities of the Federal Trade Commission, but luckily, I have had the opportunity of watching that government agency up close and personally.
Indeed, I follow their major cases and watch how they attack free-enterprise and I watch as they embellish their efforts to protect the consumer.
Thus, I have seen their successes and utter failures, such as their enforcement of SPAM, identity theft and their terroristic efforts to attack the stars of our free-markets.
So, in watching this agency, I have taken the Google News Alerts for FTC and have seen probably more things than most.
One issue that totally concerns me now is the Federal Trade Commission's attack on Whole Foods and their merger attempts.
The FTC has blocked them from merging stating that it would make a monopoly for healthy and organic foods.
Would it? In my professional opinion, No Way! The healthy grocery store chains also compete heavily with the regular grocery store chains, which have large customer bases and are selling more and more organic foods, so why is the FTC, Federal Trade Commission pursuing this case that they have already lost to block this merger? Well, it appears to me the reason is the FTC will not admit they are wrong and they have the American Taxpayer's money behind them to continue litigation in-definitely.
Therefore, I ask the tax payer, is this really the FTC that is protecting you? After all larger healthy food chains will have the economies of scale to compete with bigger grocery chains.
So, does the FTC really stand for FTC = Fatten the Consumer? You decide, personally I am disgusted with this agency.
