So you have a new autoresponder.
Now what? Read on to discover how to get the most of your autoresponder.
Autoresponders are an amazing tool.
But as with so many other tools, you get from them what you put in.
So here are some tips to help you make the most of your new autoresponder.
1) Use it It seems obvious, but it's the most easily overlooked.
The first thing you should do is this: get in the habit of using them.
2) Set up a separate list for each squeeze page and offer You should set up a separate email list for each squeeze page and offer.
Why? So you know where everyone comes from.
3) Create messages for each list.
Next, set up your welcome message for each list.
Ideally, you should do that when you set up that list.
And then start writing follow-up emails.
For the first week, you should send them a follow-up message ever day or two.
After that, maybe two or three times a week.
Unless, of course, you promised them a once-a-week e-class or something else that would arrive in pre-determined intervals.
Always deliver what you promise.
4) What you should know about writing your messages That depends on what you said you were going to send them.
Here are three rules of thumb, though: a) Be friendly Treat your new subscribers like your new best friends.
After all, that's exactly what they are, especially if you treat them well.
b) Write to them as individuals Write as if you were writing to just one person (at a time).
Imagine one individual person who will get your email, sitting at his or her computer.
Talk to that person.
Avoid things like "Y'all" or anything plural.
In fact, minimize any references that suggest that your reader is one of many.
c) Provide value and information Always make it worth their while to open your emails.
Once they've gotten used to you providing good information, they'll routinely open your mail, and you don't ever want to disappoint them.
d) What if you want to send email to more than one list at a time? You can.
As long as you're with AWeber or 1Shoppingcart, you can send emails to multiple lists, and your recipients won't get duplicate emails, even if they're subscribed to more than one list.
I can only speak for those two because I'm not familiar with other systems.
However, those two are the most commonly used.
e) What if you don't know what to write? Writer's block is an occupational hazard.
Try to relax though.
As you write those autoresponder emails, just pretend you were writing emails to a friend with whom you wanted to share some interesting information, and you'll probably be fine.
Of course, you can always hire a copywriter to help you out and write those emails for you.
