The bald eagle, scientifically known as Haliaeetus leucocephalus, is the only eagle unique to North America. Bald eagles have been the national symbol of the United States since June 20, 1782, and if you are looking for a patriotic gift, items that feature the bald eagle are an ideal choice. - If you know that the person that you are purchasing the gift for has a love of home decoration and for statuary, consider purchasing a resin or stone sculpture. You may choose a statue where the eagle is alighting on a branch or other perch or you can pick a sculpture where the eagle is in repose.
- For a young child, or for someone who is a child at heart, consider a plush stuffed eagle. You can get a small cartoonish eagle or an eagle that is nearly life-size. These gifts can be wonderful for cuddling or they can be prominently displayed for their full effect.
- An eagle-headed walking cane is a perfect choice for someone who may have mobility issues. The head may be molded from resin or it might be carved into the wood itself. The shaft may also have a bald eagle motif carved or burned into it.
- If you are going to be an area where bald eagles live, you may choose to go on an eagle observation tour. These tours are often conducted from comfortable ships, where you can see eagles in their native environment. Seeing eagles fly and hunt can be a meaningful present for the eagle fan in your life.
- There are several organizations that allow you to put money toward supporting specific eagles in captivity or supporting the preservation of eagles in the wild. Eagle adoption is good gift for someone who has a strong interest in the environment and the preservation of wildlife.
