- 1). Clean the blinds of any dirt or debris with a water-soaked soft cloth. If the blinds are especially dirty, add a mild detergent. Rinse the blinds with a damp cloth and allow them to dry.
- 2). Take the clean blinds apart by untying the knot in the bottom of the cord and pulling the cap off. Slide each slat out from the cord and lay on a flat surface.
- 3). Spray each slat with a coat of primer so the paint adheres better. Apply the primer one side at a time and allow it to dry completely before continuing on the other side. Once the primer dries, apply the paint one side at a time and do not continue to the other side until the first one dries. Use a spray can rather than a brush because it will not leave brush strokes. The spray can may make a mess, so make sure you cover the surrounding area with a protective plastic.
- 4). Apply another coat of paint to the slats if necessary.
- 5). Reassemble the blinds in the reverse order you removed the parts. Slide the slats onto the cord and secure a knot in the ends. Push the plug back onto the end of the cords and install the blinds into the brackets on the window.
