- 1). Check your thermostat's settings. Your unit could be trying to reach a set point temperature that's lower or higher than it was designed to reach. Turn off your thermostat for at least an hour to see if the fan goes off. If your thermostat has a reset button, press it.
- 2). Turn the fan switch on your unit's thermostat off.
- 3). Locate the circuit breakers in an electrical panel box generally located next to your outdoor unit. Set the circuit breakers to the "Off" position to turn off your unit for a few hours. Refer to your unit's manual if you're unsure where the circuit breakers are located.
- 4). Check your outdoor unit and remove the filters from the filter compartment. If they're dirty, brush off dirt and debris and then reinsert them. If the fans are still running, contact a qualified appliance technician.
