Places to go on a Date in Seattle

Whether you’re on your first date with someone or your fiftieth, Seattle is filled with tons of places to go on a date. Enjoy quintessentially Seattle views at waterfront restaurants, tee up for a round of miniature golf or take a stroll at one of the city’s parks—or something completely different.

1. 21+ Movie Theaters

With many Seattleites in their twenties, thirties and forties, Seattle has a great entertainment scene. Some of the coolest places to spend an evening are the city’s movie theaters that allow alcohol—the very best way to do dinner and a movie. Almost all of these are 21+ only, which also means you’re unlikely to have your date interrupted by crying babies or fussy kids. Many also feature full menus and seat-side service, so you can order everything from dinner to dessert to drinks all from the comfort of your movie viewing experience. Some theaters such as Cinnebarre show current films, while others like Central Cinema offer some vintage appeal with cult classics.More »

2. Go to a Show

Seattle’s entertainment scene also includes a variety of live venues that bring in shows for every taste, ideal for a date. Large theatres like the Paramount and 5th Avenue bring in Broadway-caliber musicals, headlining music acts and comedians. Smaller venues include a bit of everything. Catch a comedian at the Neptune Theatre, an indie play at the ACT Theatre, or even take in dinner and a comedy show at one of Seattle’s comedy clubs.More »

3. Restaurants with a View

Romance is subjective and so is any one idea of what constitutes a romantic restaurant, but one thing most people can’t deny is the romantic power of a restaurant with a water view. Seattle’s view restaurants look out over the Puget Sound in all its glory—from views of the open sound from spots like Maximilien to quaint marina views at Palisade at Elliott Bay. Make a reservation for sunset (and hope for a day when it’s not raining) and up the romance factor just a little more, but even on rainy days, water views offer a beautiful and dramatic backdrop to any meal.More »

4. Parks

Dates don’t always have to come with a high price tag. Sometimes taking a walk together is the perfect way to get to know someone else a little better and Seattle’s parks are the perfect places for such a walk. Stroll the paved or graveled trails of Washington Park Arboretum, spend some time together in the lovely Seattle Japanese Garden, or even hike through the trails or beach of Discovery Park.More »

5. Viewpoints

Maybe a restaurant with a view is a little too pricy for your budget, but no worries. Amazing views come at all price points, even free. Seattle’s skyline, often paired with sweeping views of the Sound, is a sight to see, especially as the sun sets and lights come on in the buildings that create the skyline. For the best views of the skyline, head to spots like Kerry Park or Alki Beach. Choose a viewpoint close to your restaurant of your choice and make an evening of the experience for best results.More »

6. 24-Hour Restaurants

Maybe your date was quite complete after a cup of coffee or a walk in the park or a show, but maybe you just haven’t had enough of your date quite yet. In that case, maybe one of Seattle’s 24-hour restaurants has a place in your future. These spots are open round the clock and often feature a casual place to sit and enjoy dessert or some appetizers.More »

7. Miniature Golf

For dates with a touch of fun, look to one of the area’s mini golf courses. In the summer, outdoor courses are ideal, but even in the winter there are indoor places like Tower Lanes in Tacoma or the Family Fun Center in Edmonds. You won’t find a lot of mini golf right within Seattle other than at the Interbay Golf Center, though.More »
