Uses for Oxygen Bleach

    Laundry

    • The laundry room is the most common place to find oxygen bleach. It is an effective whitener and brightener for general laundry use. It also is a common presoak for heavily soiled items; you can either directly apply bleach to the stain or soak laundry in a tub of water and bleach. Oxygen bleach is also an effective deodorizer. Add it to the washing machine to presoak dirty diapers or sweaty work clothes. Do not use it on fine silk or wool.

    Bathrooms and Kitchens

    • Oxygen bleach or hydrogen peroxide work effectively as sanitizers, particularly in two areas of the home that require thorough sanitizing: bathrooms and kitchens. In the bathroom, add oxygen bleach directly to the toilet bowl -- or a sink filled with water -- and allow it to sit for several minutes before cleaning. Septic tanks benefit from the regular flushing of oxygen bleach into the system. Clean kitchen surfaces and sinks with a solution of oxygen bleach and water, disinfecting all work surfaces and minimizing germs. When washed down the kitchen sink, the bleach also deodorizes pipes.

    Floors and Upholstery

    • Similar to its laundry uses, oxygen bleach works effectively as a stain fighter for carpets and upholstery. Add bleach to water and carpet shampoo to deodorize carpets and fight stains. Pour part of the solution into a spray bottle and spray directly on upholstery. Remove mold and mildew from baseboards, floors or other surfaces using an oxygen bleach solution. It will not leave any toxic chemicals behind for children or pets.

    Household

    • You can use oxygen bleach in other areas or your home. Sanitize and deodorize garbage cans, coolers and camping equipment. Use it to clean your lawn furniture and wood decks. Any residue left behind is ecofriendly because oxygen bleach breaks down to natural soda ash, or borax, after the oxygen is released.
