How to Get a B2 Visa

    • 1). Bring your passport, completed Form DS-156 and passport photo to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate that has jurisdiction over your country of permanent residence. Submit your application for a B-2 visa.

    • 2). Wait to be scheduled for an interview. During this time, prepare evidence of your intention to stay in the United States temporarily, as well as evidence of your financial means and residence abroad.

    • 3). Attend your interview. Remain calm and courteous. Show the consular officer any documentation she requests as evidence for your case.

    • 4). Pay the required visa fee--these are listed on the State Department website, linked to in the Resources section below.
