Politics are so interesting.
Sometimes someone comes along who operates as if they are a wildcard.
They throw a loop in the system, they challenge the status quo, and things are never quite the same after that.
In walks Ted Cruz of the tea party into the United States Congress, throws a filibuster at the last minute after the Obama administration and the special task force failed to come to terms with reducing the federal budget.
Subsequently, the government shuts down in October of 2013.
Now many are saying that Ted Cruz may run for president in 2016.
Sure, he might, he might throw his hat in the ring, and make it to the first or second round, maybe even to the Florida primary if he can raise enough money, and he just might, because he will have been considered correct in trying to block ObamaCare if it falls flat on its face.
Still, is he really one with the people? Is he the voice of common sense rising up from the masses who are tired of government waste, government spending, and intrusion on our personal liberties and freedom? Well, maybe he is, and maybe he is not.
Why do I say that you ask? Well, because in many regards he comes from the same place.
Ted Cruz went to Princeton and Harvard, and excelled in debate, in fact he was a debate champion, a champion of political rhetoric if you will.
It seems to me we have too many Ivy League members of Congress and the Senate, too many of the Supreme Court, and think how many of the last presidents, consecutively, have went to Harvard or Yale.
That's just scary when you think about it, it's like a private club.
That doesn't work for me anymore, in fact it's not working for America either.
Ted Cruz seems like an honorable guy, he has a large following as all politicians of any statue must - he comes from no BS Texas, which is also good.
No man is perfect, but Ted is looking better every day to a large number of fed up American, who want to cut up our government's credit card and wasteful spending.
They say he who rises from the people as loved and respected, and can usually get the most done in steering a nation, country, or nation-state.
True enough, and Machiavelli wouldn't have written that in the "Prince" had he not witnessed it in his own time, those words are still true today aren't they? Does that mean I am against Ted Cruz? Hell, I don't know, I don't know the man, I may never meet him for that matter? But I am already suspicious merely from such paths to power.
He says the right things, claims he can get America back on track, and acts like a fighter for the people, for common sense.
But we've been fooled before from great Teleprompter speeches and political rhetoric in debate on our televisions.
The next leader of this great nation better be someone who has solid character, believes what he or she is saying, and has the leadership skills to keep this country great.
I asked her to please consider all this and think on.
