- 1). Lay down newspaper to protect your work area.
- 2). Cut the map down to a size that matches, or is smaller than, the surface of the wooden tray.
- 3). Sand the surface of the wooden tray lightly where the map is going to go, using a 220-grit sandpaper.
- 4). Apply a thin layer of decoupage medium to the wood, using a paintbrush. Allow it to dry completely.
- 5). Apply a thin layer of decoupage medium to the back of the map and place it on the wood tray, positioning it carefully.
- 6). Apply several layers of decoupage medium over the map and the tray, sealing it in. Allow the decoupage medium to dry out thoroughly between layers.
