- 1). Clean the tile surface with a mild soap or household cleaner and water. Allow the tile and grout to dry completely before proceeding.
- 2). Shake the grout sealer's container vigorously to stir the mixture. Spray the sealer on the grout joints in a smooth even layer. For hand-applied grout sealer, pour a quantity of the sealer into a plastic container and dab the sealer onto the grout using a sponge. Be generous with the first application to maximize saturation of the grout.
- 3). Wipe the excess sealer off the tile surfaces using a clean rag and allow the sealer to soak into the grout, reapplying the sealer to sections of the grout that begin to lighten (dry) to keep the grout evenly saturated.
- 4). Allow the first complete coat of sealer to dry fully. Usually the saturation is complete in about 30 minutes. Apply a second coat of sealer to the grout. Wipe the excess sealer from the tile surfaces and allow the final coat to dry for a minimum of 24 hours before exposing the tile to moisture or steam.
