Most kids love to craft, and Christmas is the perfect time for projects. Kids can make crafts to give as gifts to parents, friends and teachers, or just make something to enjoy themselves. Using candy is a great way to get kids interested in craft projects, especially if there is some left for them to eat! Candy crafts are easy and fun, and they get kids in the holiday spirit. - Have kids pick their favorite small, packaged candy such as Life Savers or fun size chocolate bars. Purchase a foam cone and some T-pins at a craft or hobby shop. Layer the candies on the tree in shingle style, anchoring them in place with the T-pins. Continue making rows of candy all the way around until the tree is covered. Top the tree with a bow and put a small saucer next to it to hold the pins after your kids or guests remove a sweet treat.
- Wrap a rubber band around an empty metal can such as a soup can. Slide the candy canes into the rubber band to hold them onto the can, facing them outward (curved part on the outside). Decorate the can by tying a ribbon around the canes or placing a stick-on bow on the candy. Let kids pick their favorite holiday flowers to fill it with. Kids can choose any color candy canes such as green, red or white.
- Tie wrapped candies together using ribbon, attaching the candies to each other to form a chain. Make the chain as long as you like. You could also use candy canes and make a yummy peppermint garland. Use red or green bows to attach them, and let kids decorate the tree with the holiday garlands.
