Animaniacs Character Profile
They're "zany to the max" and after fifteen years, they're back on television on The Hub network! Animaniacs is an ensemble cartoon with lots of colorful characters, each with their own stories.
The Warner Siblings
After having been created by the studio and run amok on the Warner Brothers Studios lots in the 1930's, the Warner siblings are locked in the studio water tower to return sanity to the studio.
However, they figure out a way to escape and wreak havoc once again.
Yakko Warner - Voiced by Rob Paulsen, Yakko is the oldest and tallest of the Warner siblings. He has a way with words, which constantly stream out of his mouth. His sense of humor is similar to that of Groucho Marx, including lots of caustic and witty remarks. He also knows all the nations of the world (at least, as of 1994).
Wakko Warner - Voiced by Jess Harnell, Wakko is the middle child of the Warner siblings, and it shows. He never gets to answer the phone or door, and is often the quietest of the three. Wakko likes to eat lots of food, usually after having it dispensed by a large piece of construction equipment.
Dot Warner - Voiced by Tress MacNeille, Dot is the Warner sister, as she frequently points out when they are introduced as the Warner Brothers. She is the self-proclaimed "cute one" who wears a pink frilly skirt. Also, she hates being called "Dottie".
Secondary Characters
Dr. Scratchnsniff - The studio psychologist (also voiced by Rob Paulsen), Dr.
Scratchnsniff is tasked with treating the Warner siblings and helping them act more normal, a monumental task indeed. He has a German accent and likes to think himself a far better doctor than he actually is. He tends to lose his temper with the Warners, having caused his own baldness by tearing out his hair while dealing with them.
Hello Nurse - A super sexy nurse who assists Dr. Scratchnsniff, she is never given a first or last name. She gets the title from Yakko and Wakko, who upon seeing her, shout "Hellooooo Nurse!" and jump into her arms. Dot usually apologizes for their behavior when this happens.
Slappy Squirrel - An aging starlet squirrel from the golden days of the "silver screen", Slappy lives in a tree with her young nephew Skippy, whom she is raising. She is grouchy most of the time, but mostly just due to her age. Slappy may be old, but she doesn't take any guff from those around her, and often displays her no nonsense attitude by swatting people with her over-sized purse.
Pinky and The Brain - Two genetically altered lab mice, Pinky and The Brain often try to take over the world. Nightly, in fact. Brain is the more intelligent of the two, hence his name. He has a sort of George Orwell voice, and a very flat sense of humor. Pinky, on the other hand, is gleeful and simple-minded. He is usually never thinking about taking over the world in the way Brain is. They reside in Acme Laboratory. Most of their global domination schemes are unsuccessful. Eventually, they get their own spin off series.
Buttons and Mindy - Buttons is a loyal family pooch who is strangely tasked with babysitting more often than he should be. Mindy is a spunky toddler who calls her mother "Lady" and knows how to work her way out of any baby containment apparatus, much to poor Buttons' dismay. She wanders around town narrowly escaping certain harm, while poor Buttons tends to absorb all of the danger. She usually ends up back home, safe and sound, with a tired Buttons close behind. Buttons is often scolded for simple mistakes, some of which were made by Mindy, and is the unsung hero in this short.
The Goodfeathers - A pigeon version of the Goodfellas, Bobby, Squit, and Pesto are three pigeons who fly around New York and reside happily on a statue of Martin Scorsese. Squit narrates their adventures and is generally good natured. Pesto is modeled after Joe Pesci. He's a small, stout pigeon who always takes offense at everything Squit says to or about him. Bobby is modeled after Robert Di Niro and generally has his senses about him. He finds the fights between Squit and Pesto to be hilarious. They all serve the Godpigeon, who is a rotund version of the Marlin Brando's Don Corleone Godfather.
The Hip Hippos - A married couple of hippos who are anything but hip. They are obviously foreign as they have a thick Spanish accent, and tend to mistake everyday nonsense for hip trends. Their names are Flavio and Marita. Flavio really loves his wife, and will do anything to make her happy.
Chicken Boo - A man-sized chicken, Boo likes to impersonate people, albeit quite poorly. He uses flimsy disguises such as sunglasses, shirts, and stick-on mustaches. Even though he doesn't say anything except to make chicken noises, usually no one is the wiser that he's just a chicken until his disguise fail, which they inevitably do.
Rita and Runt - Rita is a stray kitty who loves to sing. Runt is a stray dog who has a sort of Rain Man vibe and doesn't realize Rita is a cat. He hates cats.
