Definition:

Pharmacotherapy is the treatment of a disease or drug addiction through the use of pharmaceuticals.

Pharmacotherapy for nicotine dependence includes some forms of nicotine replacement therapy and prescription drugs such as Zyban (buproprion hydrochloride) or Chantix (varenicline tartrate).
