- Women with fibroids have a slightly higher chance of miscarriage than normal.
- Fibroids can affect the position of the fetus. Depending on the position of the fetus, a cesarean section may be necessary.
- Fibroids can sometimes cause pain in pregnancy. This can be treated with common over-the-counter pain relievers.
- Rarely, fibroids can cause the placenta to detach from the uterus prematurely. In severe cases this can be life threatening.
- If a women has multiple miscarriages because of fibroids, they can be surgically removed.
