- 1). Clean your erasers first. Go outside or lean out an open window and clean your erasers by hitting them together. Once the heavy chalk dust is off, wipe the erasers clean with a white cloth, or vacuum them with the upholstery end of a vacuum cleaner.
- 2). Erase the chalkboard with the clean erasers, working vertically from top to bottom. Clean out the erasers as necessary.
- 3). Wipe the board with a clean white cloth, running the cloth from top to bottom. Be sure to follow the same wiping pattern all the way across the board. For example, don't wipe one section of the board from top to bottom, then another section of the board from side to side.
- 4). Fill a bucket with warm water. Add 2 to 3 drops of a mild dish detergent.
- 5). Place a clean white cloth in the water, and then wring out the excess. Wipe the chalkboard from bottom to top. Wipe two rows, then dry the wet area with another clean, white towel. Repeat this process across the entire board.
- 6). Empty the soapy water and fill the bucket with clean, warm water. Do not add any cleanser to it, as this water is for rinsing. Rinse the chalkboard the same way that you washed it. Place your rag in the water, wring it out, and then wipe the board from bottom to top. Dry the first two rows with a clean, white towel before doing another two.
