- 1). Wash and condition your hair to remove buildup.
- 2). Apply a dime-sized amount of your lightweight leave-in conditioner to damp hair with your hands, starting from root to tip. Gently pass hair through a wide-tooth comb. Do not rip through a tangles. Approach it from the root down until the tangle is loosened.
- 3). Part your hair straight from front-to-back and again from ear-to-ear to create four sections. Secure them using duckbill clips.
- 4). Blow dry hair while keeping it in sections. Use tension for straighter results by stretching hair taut with your fingertips as you blow dry.
- 5). Apply heat protectant to hair in sections. If it's a liquid, spray it evenly over hair and comb through with a wide-tooth comb for even distribution. If it's a creamy or thicker heat protectant, apply from root to tip with your hands.
- 6). Begin flat-ironing hair in half-inch thick sections. For a smooth result take a rat-tail comb and slowly pass hair through it before it passes through the flatiron. Two or three passes of the flatiron should be sufficient. Repeat until the section is finished.
- 7). Finish the style by lightly spraying the hair with oil sheen and combing it through with a wide-tooth comb.
