African Wildlife Safari

Be prepared for an experience to remember at the African Safari Wildlife Park. Conveniently located in Port Clinton, just minutes from Cedar Pointand the ferry to Put-in-Bay, it is a great side trip for those visiting Lake Erie Vacationland. Adults and kids alike will get a thrill out of huge animals walking right up to the car and sticking their heads in for a treat at the drive-thru safari as well as the wildlife park’s many animal exhibits, camel and pony rides, and animal shows.

Drive-Thru Safari:

There are hundreds of animals throughout African Wildlife Safari, eager for your carrots and grain. Moose with large antlers, deer, elk, huge buffalo, and bulls with enormous horns are staggered throughout the safari ready to smudge up your windows, chomp on yummy carrots, and surprise you with their gentleness. The zebras and giraffes are accessible to feed but are behind fences for their safety. The African Safari Wildlife Park recommends that you drive through the safari at least two times because different animals are ready to greet you and eat at different times during the day. Each drive is a new adventure.

Wildlife Park:

The fun does not end with the drive-thru safari. The 100-acre African Safari Wildlife Park is teeming with various types of monkeys, boars, and exotic birds on exhibit. Each child ticket includes a free camel ride and pony ride. Bring your camera or buy the park’s picture for an additional fee. Adults can take a break while the kids play on their large playground.

There are also several places including the Safari Grill and Ice Cream parlor for lunch or a snack.

Animal Shows:

African Wildlife Safari offers several animal shows throughout the day. Check your brochure for the day’s schedule. The main stage includes an animal show with turtles, birds, and snakes. Get ready for a squealing good time at the pig races. Select your favorite and see if your pig wins the best out of three races. The crowd really gets into the races, cheering for their favorite.
