How to Make a Sling

    • 1). Gather a branch from your backyard or local park that is in the shape of a "Y." You may need to trim it a bit and that is okay. Just make sure it measures around 8 inches give or take an inch. You also want to clean off any twigs or leaves that are growing off it so that it is smooth.

    • 2). Buy two thicker-sized rubber bands. You will need them to be about 8 to 10 inches in length. They have these types of rubber bands for sale at office supply stores such as Staples.

    • 3). Cut each of the rubber bands with a pair of scissors so that they are no longer a circle but a straight line.

    • 4). Cut out a piece of leather about 4 to 6 inches long and 2 to 3 inches high. It should look like a rectangle. This is your pouch.

    • 5). Cut a small slit near each edge of your pouch (both the left edge and the right edge).

    • 6). Thread one end of your rubber band through the slit in the left edge and fold over. Secure with electrical tape. Repeat on the right side with the other rubber band.

    • 7). Take the rubber band on your left and attach it to the left part of your Y with electrical tape. Then attach the rubber band coming from the right side of the pouch to the right side of the Y stick with electrical tape. You now have your sling.

    • 8). Use round bouncy balls to place in the pouch of your sling. Pull back and let go really fast and see if you can knock down some empty soda cans for a distance away.
