I can hear someone in the workplace saying, "She has an attitude problem.
" Someone asks, "What do you mean she has an attitude problem and what did the employee do?"Later it was revealed to you that it is not always what you are doing, but what you are not doing that affects your attitude.
And, it is also how you respond to what you are not doing.
For example, an employee was always late for work.
She wanted to make her own rules and regulations by reporting to work when she wanted to.
She got angry and hostile whenever the supervisor confronted her about the problem.
In the meantime, her tardiness persisted after many warnings.
One day management confronted her about not calling in to request leave.
In a tone fulled with anger and hostility she said, "I forgot.
"The staff suspected that she was still holding anger and bitterness over being overlooked for a promotion about six months ago.
Her attitude now is that they did not do anything for me so I am not going to do anything for them.
Does this story sound familiar? Here, the employee deliberately disobeyed the company's policy.
Management chose to solve the problem by transferring her to another office.
The transfer could have been avoided if she did not have a negative attitude.
A positive attitude will lift you up but a negative one will bring you down..
The following are a few do's and don'ts to help you have a better attitude: Do's Do change your attitude from negative to positive about the task and become committed to achieving it, keep a positive attitude with humor, associate with people who have a positive attitude, and do not allow stress to affect your attitude and how you feel and act, Don'ts Don't associate with people who have hostile attitudes.
