How to Remove Oyster Stains From Clothes

Question: How do I remove oyster stains from clothes?

Oysters can be slippery little things and slide down your shirt or onto your lap. Learn how to remove oyster stains from clothes.

Answer:

If the oysters are raw or steamed, treat the spot like any protein stain. Rinse the stain with cold water and then then launder as usual.

Fried oyster stains need to be treated with a pre-treater and then laundered as usual.

If you happen to be enjoying a bit of cocktail sauce or Tabasco, you'll need to treat those stains as well.

If the garment is dry clean only, point out and identify the stain to your professional cleaner. If you are using a home dry cleaning kit, be sure to treat the stain with the provided stain remover before putting the garment in the dryer bag.
