- 1). Purchase iron-on transfer paper from your office store. Type out a personal message to your mother and print it on the iron-on transfer paper. Follow the package directions to iron the message onto the center of the bottom half of the cloth napkins for your Mother's Day celebration. Fold your napkin to reveal the message by folding it in half lengthwise and then folding one third of each side behind the napkin so that the message is on top.
- 2). Select a theme for your overall decor that represents your mother's taste. Set the table with a gingham tablecloth for a casual, country table and adorn the table with flowers placed in mason jars. Use fine linens and sterling silver flatware with your mother's best china for a formal setting, including the teacups for your hot beverage. Decorate a formal table with doilies and fine crystal vases. Modernize your table setting by using a contemporary color palette with solid, colored plates and glasses instead of goblets. Choose your mother's favorite flowers for the table setting and make a gift of them to your mother to brighten her day.
- 3). Add a personalized touch to your table, such as a framed photo of your mother holding you right after you were born. Include a recent framed photo of you and your mother together. Write a personal note to your mother detailing the fond memories you share with her. Decorate a paper tablecloth with marker pictures and words directed toward the mother of young children.
