- 1). Insert the Roomba battery into the unit. Plug the Roomba into the wall and allow the battery to charge overnight.
- 2). Set up any required virtual walls prior to engaging the Roomba. Virtual walls restrict the Roomba from traveling to certain areas even if there is no wall or structure blocking off that part of the room. Insert two "D" batteries into the Roomba virtual wall unit and turn it on, then adjust the slider bar to set the length of the barrier and set it on the floor.
- 3). Insert 2 "AA" batteries into the Roomba remote. Select "Clean," "Spot" or "Max" to begin the Roomba cleaning cycle. Selecting "Clean" will cause the unit to automatically clean the room until all detected dirt has been removed, up to 60 minutes. "Spot" mode will intensely clean a small area about 3 feet in diameter, and "Max" mode will cause the Roomba to run until the battery is depleted.
- 4). Dock the Roomba on the charger base when not in use to maintain full power reserves and preserve battery life. When the unit is on the charger, a light will be displayed to indicate the charge status: red signifies that the battery is empty, an amber pulse means that the unit is charging and a green light signals that the charge cycle is complete. The Roomba will return to the charger automatically after it is finished cleaning, but you can dock it manually by placing it within five feet of the base and pressing "Spot" and "Clean" simultaneously.
- 5). Keep the Roomba in peak operating condition by removing debris from the brushes every two to three cleaning cycles and replacing the air filter every one to two months.
