Glass Ornament Craft

    Types

    • Glass ornaments can be painted with acrylic paint, etched with etching solution and stencils or filled with lightweight materials like tinsel, colored paper and glitter, or a photograph rolled up and positioned inside the ornament with tweezers. Coordinating ribbons can be attached to the hanger to make the ornament easier to hang.

    Considerations

    • Glass ornaments are a fairly inexpensive craft project. Since the ornaments are breakable, use appropriate safety precautions like eye protection when working on the ornaments. Glass ornament crafts should be saved for older children who are less likely to break the ornaments or hurt themselves working with the ornaments. If you are crafting ornaments to sell, consider making ornaments in sets of four or six.

    Warning

    • The edges of the ornament covered by the cap and hanger can be rough; use care when handling the ornaments. Etching cream is an acid; use gloves and an apron when working with it to protect your skin and clothing.
