Formal Beach

  Even if the actual ceremony is going to be on a beach, if the bride is wearing a beautiful, elegant wedding gown, the groom needs to be dressed elegantly as well. Stick with a basic tuxedo. The catch is to look for something that is a light weight when compared to other tuxedos. Depending on the level of the bride's attire, the groom could even wear a tux without a jacket or even the vest. Sometimes if the bridesmaids' dresses are less formal compared to the bride, the groom can get away with slightly less formal attire as well. Another alternative would be to find a tux-quality suit in gray or white.
  
  

Semi-Formal Beach

  For a semi-formal beach wedding look for the groom, a good choice would be nice dress pants, possibly in gray or off-white, paired with a high-quality shirt. A tie would most likely not be needed for this look, but find a shirt that would look well tucked into the dress pants. This look could even be paired with a nice pair of sandals to help bring that beach-feel to the ensemble.
  
  

Casual Beach

• If the wedding is going to be a casual beach ceremony, the groom's outfit will depend on the level of dress the bride is wearing. Usually jeans and denim still do not look right on the groom with a bBride who is in a sundress. Look for khaki colored linen pants and match the pants with a loose white dress shirt. Leave the shirt untucked and scrunch the sleeves up to the elbows. Maybe even leave the top button or two unbuttoned. This relaxed look could be finished with a new pair of sandals or flip-flops.
  
  

Cruise Wedding

  The above suggestions would work just as easily on a cruise wedding, but there are some little extras to keep in mind. If you are going with the formal look and need to rent a tuxedo, be sure to check with rental company about taking the tux with you on the cruise and the price for that. Also, it is essential to go try on the tux early to double check the fit because once you leave, if that tux does not fit right, there is not much you can do to fix it. Also keep in mind the packing limitations for cruises and that you will probably need to iron that tux once you get there.
  
  

General Tips

• Overall, go by what the bride is wearing and the outfits she chose for the bridesmaids to decide on the level of dress needed as the groom. The last thing any bride wants are pictures with a groom who looks like he is supposed to be at a different wedding. One more tip--if you are not wearing sandals or flip-flops, do not forget the socks; dress shoes are unbearable if you do not have dress socks to go with them.
