A backsplash for a laundry room sink gives homeowners the freedom to try some creative alternatives to traditional tile, because few people see that room. Because a laundry room backsplash area is not too big, it's possible to use a variety of items. All you need to do is make sure they are resistant to water damage. - More than a century ago, tin ceiling tiles were the height of interior décor. Capture a vintage look in your laundry room by implementing faux tin ceiling tiles as a backsplash. These aluminum squares generally feature anywhere from 3- to 6-inch repeating patterns and come in different styles and patterns, from classic to contemporary to custom looks. A tin ceiling tile backsplash is easy to install and most manufacturers make tiles in silver, gold, rose and bronze tints.
- Bamboo is strong, lightweight and water resistant and it works well as a backsplash for a kitchen or laundry room sink. Purchase rolls of bamboo slats at a home improvement store and cut to the precise measurements needed. Rolls are generally a creamy yellow-tan but tinted bamboo is an option---try dark walnut color or even a whimsical pink or mint green. Affix bamboo to the wall with construction adhesive.
- Dig out the unusable games from the closet or head to a thrift store or garage sale for vintage board games. Cut boards to fit the space, then affix them to the wall using construction adhesive. Use them side by side, or cut them in half for a jigsaw look. Protect the boards with clear acrylic panels cut to fit. Use bolts and screws to keep the acrylic in place and protect the colorful boards.
