If you asked 5 guitarists what the best way to learn guitar is, you would most likely get 5 different answers.
None of them would necessarily be wrong, but you would still be confused.
There are a number of different approaches to take.
Different methods work better for some people.
Regardless of which approach you take to learn to play guitar, there are a few things to know that will apply to all methods.
In this day and age with the Internet you now have access to 1000's of online guitar courses.
There are also guitar forums, chat rooms, and of course YouTube videos.
The first thing you should do though is download a good beginner guitar course to work with.
You don't want to pick up bad habits from the start because they will eventually prevent you from progressing.
There are a lot of online guitar programs that cost less than the price of one private lesson.
It is my belief that anybody can learn to play guitar.
You don't have to have any special attributes.
The only thing you really need is the desire.
And a guitar of course! There are a few main reasons people give up before they get anywhere, so as long as you are aware of these before hand, they will not deter you when you encounter them.
The first thing to be aware of is that when you first start out, you'll probably develop blisters on your fingers and it will hurt when you try to practice.
At this stage just use common sense and practice as often as you can tolerate it.
In no time you will develop callouses and from then on it will be no problem.
The other reason people give up is, they just get frustrated after a few weeks because they don't see a lot of progress and they assume they are not cut out for playing guitar.
In the first few weeks it will seem impossible to change from one chord to another smoothly, and you're going to think that you will never be able to do it, but what you are doing initially is developing muscle memory.
Before you know it you will be moving between chords fluently.
Remember, even Eric Clapton had to start from the beginning.
Now for the biggest thing on learning to play guitar.
Practice-Practice-Practice.
Sorry, there is no getting around this.
Practice really does make perfect.
But the big thing here is not only how much you practice, but how you practice.
You will improve much faster by keeping your sessions short but frequent.
Even 15 minutes a day, every day, is better than 3 hours at a time once a week.
I hope this helps you decide what the best way to learn guitar is for you,but I do highly recommend you use a good program for beginners, it will save you a lot of frustration and wasted time.
Good luck.
