Music is life and definitely our soul resides with each rhythm addressing our hearts. We have been trying to learn from ancient time and there are so many places and people who are working hard to keep this ritual alive. The best part of this divine creature is- it requires our interest and of course the time we spend on it. This universe is really very vast and widespread varieties on this. We will be needed more pages if we discuss this as a whole as a globe. Cajun and Creole Music is single and unique in its Louisiana flavour. Bayou n Brooklyn Music Festival: Initial planning and through our grassroots advertising campaign, our previous annual festivals for the last two years left a lasting impression on the local community and drew audience from Washington, Philadelphia, Boston, and Upstate New York City. Many were pleasantly surprised to find for the first time how amazing this music is. Our team is dedicated to once again revitalize Louisiana culture in Brooklyn which is continually graced by world-class Cajun-Creole-Zydeco musicians.
Bayou n Brooklyn is the first and only Cajun-Creole-Zydeco Festival now on spotlight for a fourth year at the Jalopy Theatre and School of Music for a weekend full of music, dancing, and cheer for everyone to have a taste of Louisiana without leaving New York.
It's a chance to learn a new song, refine a dance step or fiddle tune, or enjoying a Cajun-made authentic gumbo while talking to the only Creole accordion builder! Play by day and dance by night to Cajun, Creole and Zydeco award winning bands.
Talk of Louisiana: who is going soon, whoâs just returnedâcan often be heard amongst the local dancers and musicians, and no doubt, bits and pieces of those talks and place namesâ¦Opelousas, Cecelia, Beaux Bridge, will fall on peopleâs ears at Bayou nâ Brooklyn.
The annual festival highlights the musical genius of bayou-born sounds, family dances, community jam sessions, dance hall flavour bands and food that entices oneâs palate such as the Louisiana-famous jambalaya.
For the fourth year in a row, â¨â¨ Bayou n' Brooklyn Music Festival will host award winning Louisiana performers alongside top local talent.
Bayou 'n Brooklyn Festival kicks off with a pre-show â¨Thursday night at 8pm featuring Zydeco legend Preston Frank, and continue well until midnight, Sunday May 11. Performances are at Jalopy Music Theatre (315 Columbia Street, Between Hamilton & Woodhull, and Brooklyn, NY 11231). Admission is $20 Friday or Sunday, $30 Saturday, or $50 for a 3day/Full Weekend Pass. Workshop Prices are $25.
