- 1). Sculpt wax into the exact shape and dimensions of your final product. For instance, if you want to cast metal beads, sculpt the wax into a perfect bead replica. Use a utility knife to make cuts.
- 2). Attach a wax spur to the base of the sculpture by melting it with a candle. When the wax is melted from the investment casting, the metal will flow through the channel provided by the wax spur.
- 3). Attach one square inch of moldable wax to the center of the rubber base. The rubber base should be about the same size of the can.
- 4). Connect the sculpture, with the wax spur in between, to the chunk of moldable wax on the rubber base.
- 5). Cut the bottom of the can off with the cut safe can opener. The cut safe can opener cuts the beads of the can instead of leaving a sharp edge.
- 6). Put the can on top of the rubber base and tape the base to the can to insure a water-tight seal.
- 7). Mix the investment material with water to the manufacturer's specifications.
- 8). Pour the investment into the can, completely covering the wax sculpture. let the investment dry for the time designated by the manufacturer.
- 9). Remove the rubber base from the can, exposing the wax.

Place the can into a high temperature furnace at 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The wax must face down so that it can pour out. Leave the can in the furnace overnight. The mold is now vacant of wax and is ready for metal to be injected or poured into it.
