Every year About.com hosts the Readers' Choice Awards. This is a chance for site visitors to nominate and vote for their favorite products and services. In 2012, nominations were taken between January 18th and February 16th for the best SAD website and best SAD self-help tool (including books, apps, DVDs, etc.).
Nominations were tallied, finalists determined, and voting took place through March 21st for each category. The winners in each category are listed below.
1. Best Social Anxiety Disorder Website: SA - UK
The finalists for best SAD website included SA-UK, Social Phobia World, Social Anxiety Support, SAD at About.com and The Social Phobic. The winner was SA-UK with 50% of the votes. Social Anxiety UK is a non-profit Website with the goal of increasing awareness, providing support, and offering information about social anxiety. Included at the site are success stories, therapy options in the UK, chat rooms and a forum. Membership is available to adults with social anxiety or severe shyness.

2. Best Social Anxiety Disorder Self-Help Tool: Undecided
There were five finalists for best SAD self-help tool, including three books, one DVD program, and one international group. Due to the extremely small number of votes cast, it was decided that no clear winner could be chosen in this category. Hopefully next year more readers will cast more votes in this category to choose a clear winner.
