- 1). Disconnect the dryer from its electrical outlet. Remove the flexible exhaust duct from the dryer by unscrewing the clamp that holds secures it in place.
- 2). Insert a long duct brush or feather duster into the exhaust duct to remove dust and lint if the duct work does not run through the wall.
- 3). Use a wet-dry vacuum to remove dust inside the duct if it connects to the wall. Insert a wet-dry vacuum wand into the duct as far as it can go and vacuum out the duct. Disconnect the other end of the duct and repeat the vacuuming process from the other end. Vacuum the rear port on the dryer before replacing the duct.
- 1). Disconnect the dryer from its power source. Push the dryer out from the wall. Loosen the screws that secure the vent duct to the exhaust on the dryer's back panel. Pull out the vent duct from the exhaust port.
- 2). Locate the dryer's access panel alongside its cord and remove the screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Use a nut driver to remove the screws that secure the dryer's back panel that covers the dryer cabinet. Insert a putty knife between the back panel and side of the dryer cabinet to lift up the panel for removal
- 3). Locate a long, vertical bronze unit (the heating mechanism unit) from inside the dryer's compartment on the right. Carefully remove its wiring that connects from the unit to the dryer electrical panel. Use long-nose pliers to remove the limit thermostat wires just above the previously removed wiring and the thermal fuse wires if available.
- 4). Find the hex screw at the top of the heating unit and the strap that secures it in place. Remove the top screw of the strap and remove the whole unit out from the compartment. Slide the new heating unit in and replace all wiring as it was originally set up.
- 5). Replace the back panel and cover on the dryer.
