- 1). Refrain from speaking negatively of those involved in the situation. One of the principle teachings for Christians involves approaching their fellow Christians with love, respect, humility and kindness. Even if there is a conflict, it is important to maintain and apply these principles to those involved in the issue.
- 2). Encourage everyone within the conflict to pray personally and as a group about the situation. This is a core philosophy for Christians, as they believe that bringing their problems to Jesus is the best way to resolve them. Answers may come in the form of prayer or clarity through meditation. Therefore, resolving the conflict involves plenty of reverent prayer.
- 3). Discuss the issue without regard for personal gain. Christians as a whole should always be focused on advancing the mission and Word of Jesus Christ. Therefore, conflicts relating to the church should always be redirected into what's best for the church and the church's mission in terms of the word of God.
- 4). Follow the hierarchy of command. If those involved in the conflict have trouble coming to a resolution, then follow the chain of command in a Christian church, which is generally a deacon, then a lower level clergyman and finally, the lead pastor or bishop.
- 5). Request a meeting with the lead pastor. Ask him to intervene, as the lead pastor or bishop should have the final say in any decision to end the conflict. Once he renders a decision or decree regarding the conflict, then everyone should accept the decision and move on. The lead pastor is also responsible for bringing the church back together again to focus on serving the mission of Jesus Christ.
