Morning Sickness - Causes, When it Starts and Some Remedies

The bad news about morning sickness is that there is no real cause on what causes it.
But the good news is (and the thing you should focus more on) is the methods or ways to overcome it.
But one of the theories on what causes nausea for pregnant women is due to changes in their hormones that is produced by their placenta and the unborn baby.
Another theory is that the mommy's tummy gets empty faster than usual which causes some dizziness or light headedness.
Now, morning sickness usually starts anytime between four to eight weeks to the pregnancy.
And statistics show that 70% of women experience this.
Which means that yes, there's a 30% of women out there who are so lucky as to not experience this discomfort.
Also, just to set it straight, contrary to its layman's term, morning sickness can happen at any time and last for as long as a whole day.
And just a little trivia, studies have shown that this phenomena that attacks the mommies-to-be is actually quite beneficial-- both to the mom and the baby.
Morning sickness is Mother Nature's way of rejecting the toxins that may be harmful.
And generally, morning sickness is okay and normal, just as long as the woman stays hydrated and do not starve.
Now, with the remedies.
I cannot really go into details with the common remedies (but you could check my other articles here and in my website) but I would just enumerate the most effective ones and give each a brief description.
1.
Ginger
Yes, you have heard this one a million and one times, eh? But hey, that is so right! The herb ginger root was regarded as just an old wives' tale before but has now proven to be scientifically effective to cure nausea.
You could take this as supplements or mix it in some of your food and you will instantly notice an improvement in your health.
2.
Staying Hydrated
I cannot stress the importance on this one.
Water really is a pregnant woman's best friend.
A dehydrated mommy is a very bad thing.
It can cause a number of health problems even for the baby.
If it's not part of your daily routine yet, now is the perfect time to start drinking your required eight glasses a day.
3.
Keep Some Crackers Always Ready
How do you feel when you are starved? Nauseated? Light-headed? And you just don't feel well at all? Well, there's another reason why you have morning sickness! Now, my advice for any woman who asks me is to always have a pack or piece of crackers or biscuits in handy.
You always have to be full and so some crackers will do the trick.
