How to Remove Jamaican Mango & Lime Creme Wax

    • 1). Start by warming your hair with a blow-dryer. This will soften the wax and oils, making them easier to remove later. Make sure to lift locks and warm the bottom layers.

    • 2). Shampoo your hair immediately following blow-drying. Use the hottest water temperature you can withstand. The hot water keeps the wax soft and opens the scales on the hair follicle to loosen the locks slightly. This will allow your shampoo to better penetrate the locks and remove residue.

    • 3). Focus on washing each dreadlock individually. Your normal dreadlock shampoo will remove the wax. However if you have visible wax buildup on your dreadlocks, purchase a dreadlock shampoo designed to remove residue.

    • 4). Rinse the dreadlocks thoroughly with warm water. Normally, you should use cold water to encourage the hair follicles to tighten up. In this case, you want to keep the follicles open to rinse out the wax buildup.

    • 5). Dry each dreadlock individually with a towel. Squeeze the dread to remove any excess water and wring out any remaining residue.

    • 6). Complete your usual post-shampoo routine. Palm roll each dreadlock to retighten it. If you normally apply wax, wait until the hair is completely dry and examine the appearance of the hair. Repeat the washing process if you are unsatisfied. For heavy build up, it may take two or more washes to remove the wax adequately.
