- The first section of the "Faith in God" booklet is "Learning and Living the Gospel." Activities on this topic could include scripture-related crafts such as creating a scripture bookmark or making a scripture tote -- with or without teaching sewing. Work with the standards found in "My Gospel Standards." Have the girls make necklaces, such as washer necklaces, with standards written on individual pieces. They can add each standard they are willing to "bear," or take upon themselves, to the necklace. You could also create a memory match game of standards along with pictures illustrating the standards and play with the girls, then give each of them a copy to take home. They could use the cards for a Family Home Evening lesson. You could also create role-playing activities and have the girls act out maintaining their standards.
- The serving others section of "Faith in God" allows for a wide range of activities. Consider "adopting" older or widowed women and men in the ward as "grandparents" and have the girls pay them a visit a few times a year. Prepare a meal for the missionaries, the primary presidency, and older members of the ward. Invite school teachers for a teacher appreciation night, and have each girl prepare a tribute to honor her teacher. Girls could also prepare a musical number, such as "I Am a Child of God." A "crazy clean" activity where the girls choose cleaning tasks in the church and complete as many as possible is good for the girls and the building -- make it a game by assigning points and prizes. Write thank "U"s (large letter U-shaped notes with notes of thanks written on them) or standard thank-you notes for anyone who has helped the girls.
- Trying lots of different activities is one way to help girls discover and begin to develop talents. Have different projects that involve music, art, crafts, painting or interpersonal skills. Go to the home improvement store on their kid's craft day and discover the inner carpenter in the girls. Have them create a journal, scrapbook page or note card. Assign girls to find or develop a current talent for a month, then have a "talent night" where girls can bring in a musical number they have prepared, a food they have cooked, or pictures of a garden they grew or a book they read.
- Memorizing the articles of faith is a challenge for some girls. Make it fun with a small reward, such as a necklace bead or a treat, that they receive after passing each one. Have a game with a muffin tin or egg carton. Number the bottom of each cup (and add an extra for 13). Have the girls toss a small beanbag or ball into the cup. Based on the number of the cup they reach, they must repeat the corresponding article of faith. Add the articles of faith to your regular routine. Choose an article of faith each month. As girls are gathering for the activity, play the song that corresponds to that month's article of faith. Sing along with the song, and encourage the girls to do so, as well.
