- 1). Sort your laundry into whites, colors and delicates. Check your pockets for any loose change or anything else that will come loose when washing.
- 2). Place a single load of laundry into the washing machine but do not pack it tight. You can loosely stack the laundry up to the brim of the drum inside the machine.
- 3). Apply the appropriate amount of laundry detergent to the detergent tray located on the lip that that lid rests on. The tray is plastic and loosely shaped like a triangle. The appropriate amount of detergent depends on the brand you use.
- 4). Close the lid of the washing machine and select the water temperature setting you would like. You can choose from cold, warm and hot. Use hot water on delicates and heavily soiled items. Use warm or cold for items made of cottons that could shrink.
- 5). Select the load size. If you filled the drum 25 percent full, select a setting such as "small" but if you loaded a full load, select, "Extra large."
- 6). Select the duration. The large dial on the far left of the machine offers multiple settings that will change how many water and spin cycles the machine completes. Select a longer cycle for heavily soiled clothes or for very large loads. You can select shorter cycles for small loads or laundry that is not very dirty.
- 7). Press the button labeled, "Start" to start the washing machine.
