- 1). Take the exit off Interstate 40/44 to Forest Park. Arrive early for the shows that start at dusk. You can buy tickets or head to the top of the hill and get in line for the free seating in the upper rows of the theater. Since the city's intention was to make the arts more available to the general public, the top rows are free seating and offered on a first come, first seated basis. The line is usually long, so go on a weekday for the best seats and best chance of getting in. The Muny has been offering Broadway-style shows for 90 years.
- 2). Bring a cooler. A soft-sided cooler with cold drinks and a late pre-show dinner is a great idea. Just remember to leave the glass at home. The Muny does not allow glass containers. By mid-June, St. Louis nights can be hot and humid. Bring lots of cool drinks and the insect repellent.
- 3). Consider bringing old-fashioned opera glasses or binoculars if you are getting the free seats. You will be able to see the stage from anywhere in the house, but the seats are a fair distance from the stage.
- 4). Watch the bats. Just after dusk, the huge lights of the theatre attract moths and other insects and the insects attract bats. During the intermission, enjoy the sight of the bats as they hunt for the juiciest moth for dinner.
- 5). Choose your favorite show. In recent years the Muny has presented "Miss Saigon," "The Music Man" and "Cats" as well as other perennial stage favorites. Pick a favorite or take the opportunity to see something new.
