- 1). Upgrade the car's tires. Upgrading a RC cars tires improves the car's ability to turn and maneuver. Tire upgrades change the design of the tire from either grip tires to drift tires, changing the performance and handling of a car. Grip tires provide better traction for driving on sand, grass or over dirt while drift tires allow users to power slide during turns. Tire upgrades also change the aesthetic look of the rims, adding a new color and design.
- 2). Change the RC car's motor. RC cars allow users to install different motors that add power and speed to the car. Not all motors will fit and work inside a car, so it is best to check with the manufacturer for applicable motors.
- 3). Upgrade the body kit. All RC cars include stock body kits, usually made of a lightweight plastic. Changing the body kit will add a new design and possibly even a lighter frame for better speed. Regardless, upgrading the body kit let you change the type of a car from a coupe car to a racing car or vise versa.
- 4). Change the car's gears. Gears for an electric car affect the performance; loose gears may cause stripped gears while tight gears may cause gears to wear out. Upgrading the gears on an RC car changes the pinions and spurs to improve performance while controlling.
- 5). Upgrade a transmitter. Radio-controlled cars use transmitters to send signals to the car, however, these signals have a maximum distance, beyond which the signal no longer works. Upgrading a transmitter allows a user to drive the car further, removing control limitations on a car.
