One of the best ways to boost the cleaning power of your laundry detergent is to add an oxygen-based bleach. The product uses sodium percarbonate as a gentle-on-fabrics cleaner to whiten, brighten and remove stains. Honest Oxy Boost is a stain and odor removal product that is safe to use on all washable fabrics.

It comes as a dry product in single dose pods that can be added to the washer with detergent or dissolved in hot water to use as a presoak or spot remover. The product is an oxygen-based cleaner and is effective in removing organic stains, whitening white clothes, brightening colored clothes and deodorizing laundry. It should never be used on wool, silk, leather or any fabric that is labeled as dry clean only.

The listed ingredients are:

• Sodium percarbonate (solid form of hydrogen peroxide bonded with natural soda ash)
• Sodium carbonate (natural soda ash)
• Polyvinyl Alcohol (biodegradable water-soluble film)
• There are no added dyes or fragrances.
  Instructions state to toss the pod or pods into the washer drum first, before loading clothes. Honest Oxy Boost can be used with any laundry detergent. To use as a presoak or spot remover, mix the pod with 24 ounces of hot water. Clothes can then be soaked for one to six hours. The product will loose its cleaning power after about six hours. Do not allow the product to dry on fabrics before rinsing.
  
  Honest Oxy Boost is safe for septic tanks and graywater systems. The product has received the United States EPA Design for the Environment designation. It contains no animal by-products and is not tested on animals. It is made in the United States.
  
  Honest Stain Remover is offered in a stylishly decorated resealable, recyclable pouch. Each pouch contains 24 pods. Honest laundry products are not available from retail stores and can only be purchased online from the Honest.com website.

  Laundry  Recommendations
  
  I am an unabashed fan of oxygen-based bleach. The fact that it is safe on all washable products, gentle on the environment and so easy to use, makes it a wonderful addition to every laundry room. The key to using it as a stain remover is to be patient. It needs time to work on most stains. While not especially effective on oily stains, it is often a "miracle worker" on tannin and organic stains like mud stains and blood.
  
  I especially like Honest Oxy Boost because it contains no added fragrances or dyes. I tested it on several types of stains - grass, mud, ketchup - and it removed them all from test muslin squares. I did use it as a presoak for stains that were heavy and had been set. And, given some soaking time, the stains came out!
  
  My only reservation about Honest Oxy Boost is that it is not readily available at your local retailer. So plan ahead and place your order so it is always on hand for laundry's stains.
