- 1). Mix a small amount of glitter into both the yellow and orange clay, adding small amounts until the desired level of sparkle is achieved. Combine the yellow and orange clay until you achieve a 4-inch-wide sphere, using twice as much yellow clay as orange clay. Keep squeezing and reshaping the sphere until you get a marbled surface.
- 2). Mash two parts red clay and one part orange clay together until evenly mixed. Add in a small amount of the brown clay and mix evenly into this clay mixture. Keep adding and mixing in small amounts of brown clay until you get a dark red-orange clay. Add glitter to this clay mixture in small amounts until the desired sparkle level is achieved. Roll this dark red-orange clay into a long 1/8-inch-diameter cylinder. Cut this cylinder into different-sized lengths. Press each length into and across the 4-inch-sphere in a random, undulating fashion.
- 3). Twist more yellow and orange clay together into a foot-long cylinder that is 1/4-inch in diameter. Cut the length into various sized pieces. Press one end of a length of this twisted clay into the sphere and shape it to look like a solar flare. Add as many of these as desired.
- 4). Mark off 2 inches on the dowel beginning at one end and measuring inward. Choose which part of the clay sphere is going to be the top and bottom. On the bottom of the sphere, stick the dowel in 2 inches, and remove it.
- 5). Combine silver glitter with the black clay, until it is sparkly enough for you. Shape a square block of this clay that is 4 inches tall, 4 inches wide and 4 inches thick. Stick the skewer down 2 inches into the center of this block and remove it.
- 6). Bake both the clay block and the clay sphere according to the manufacturer's instructions. Insert the dowel into the clay sphere and insert the other end of the dowel into the block once the sphere and block are cool.
