- 1). Start your game and open your Internet browser. Visit the Wowhead database website (see link located in the Resources section).
- 2). Choose the "Database" option in the Wowhead main page. Click the "Items" option, then select any of the items you currently have equipped on your character.
- 3). Enter the relevant information for your item into the database, which can be found by selecting the item in your inventory and looking at the item information. The information you need includes item name, required use level, item quality, and all included gems and enchantments.
- 4). Select the "Apply Filter" button, at which point you should receive a description of your item, complete with item level number. Record this item level number for future use.
- 5). Repeat steps 1 through 4 with every item you have equipped, recording the item level for every one.
- 6). Add the item level numbers together after they have been calculated. The sum of these numbers is your gear score.
