The lovely historic city of Hereford - Herefordshire is positioned on the River Wye.
It lies in an easterly direction 16 miles from the border with Wales and is the largest city of this county.
It is a very old city and has its origins around 676 AD.
There are many building which have been preserved from previous eras and the city is known for its cathedral and its medieval bridge which crosses the River Wye.
The 11th century cathedral is a monumental and beautiful piece of architecture and is a central part of Hereford.
It contains a number of historic documents, one of which is a medieval world map called the Mappa Mundi, this can be viewed by the public, its chained library, stained glass windows and many other attractions can be seen in the cathedral.

There are beautiful unspoilt historic parklands in central Hereford, as well as a remarkable Victorian gothic building which houses an Art Gallery and Museum.
On the edge of town there is an old Vicarage built in 1865 and is now a guest house which is near Belmont Abbey and the golf course.
Another amazing attraction is the old cider factory which houses the Cider Museum.
Its history of making cider beverages, the collection of delicately engraved cider glasses made from English lead crystal and the watercolour paintings are a real treat for the whole family to enjoy.
Hereford was the origin of the now world renowned Hereford cattle.
These cows are used in almost all countries around the world and have been a great asset to many farms.
