- 1). Open the photo from which you want to remove the pearl in Photoshop.
- 2). Find the path palette in your computer screen. If you can't see the path palette, select "Window" from the navigation bar at the top of the Photoshop window and choose "Paths." This will open up the paths palette.
- 3). Find the pen icon on the Photoshop toolbar and right-click on it. A drop-down menu will appear.
- 4). Select "Pen Tool." This should be the first option on the drop-down menu.
- 5). Look for the "Paths" icon on the toolbar running along the top of your Photoshop file's window. Select the icon.
- 6). Draw a path around the pearl's edges. Click on a place along the pearl's edge to make your first path point. Move further along the pearl's border and click again to create a second path anchor point.
- 7). Click and drag to make a curved edge. You can later adjust the lines that extend from either end of each path point to adjust curves. Pulling the line further from the image or pulling it closer will curve the line that connects two path points.
- 8). Perfect the curves using the "Convert Point Tool." Select it from the drop-down menu that appears when you right-click on the pen icon and click at either end of a line extending from a path anchor point. This will allow you to change the curve on one side of an anchor point without altering the other.
- 9). Click on the first path anchor point along the pearl's edge to close the path.

Convert the path to a selection; on the "Path" palette, highlight the path you drew around the pearl and click on the "Load Path as a Selection" icon at the bottom of the palette window. This icon resembles a circle made from a dotted line. - 11
Remove the pearl from your photo. If you press the Delete key on your keyboard, you'll completely erase the pearl. If you plan on using the pearl in a different image, you may cut it from the background by simultaneously holding down on the Ctrl and X keys on your keyboard.
