- 1). Close an adjustable wrench over the two flat surfaces on the side of the shower faucet. Turn the wrench to the left to loosen the faucet from the gooseneck pipe. Continue turning until the faucet is free.
- 2). Turn the gooseneck pipe with your hands to remove it.
- 3). Hold the gooseneck pipe so one end points at you. Wrap the threads clockwise with four layers of Teflon tape. Turn the pipe around and wrap the other threaded end in the same way.
- 4). Insert the pipe-connection end of the gooseneck pipe, which is usually the long end, into the water pipe in the wall and turn it to the right until it is tight and the angled portion faces downward.
- 5). Turn on the cold water, then the hot water, and let them run for 10 seconds each to clear the pipes of debris so you do not clog the new shower head.
- 6). Lift the new shower faucet over the gooseneck pipe and turn it to the right until it is tight. Grip the flat surfaces of the faucet with the adjustable wrench and tighten it one more complete turn.
