In this article we plan to look at some of these and see if they really are fact or fiction.
O.
k.
let us take a look:
- Breast augmentation surgery leaves no scars - While surgeons use every available technique to reduce the scarring and to hide the scars, unfortunately breast augmentation surgery with the use of implants will always leave scars.
It is very important if this is a concern that you discuss this with your surgeon to see how he will be reducing visible scarring.
There are different techniques they can use such as making the incision in the arm pit region and feeding the implants to the breast from here, cutting the nipple off and putting implant in through there( scarring is very reduced with this technique) or making the incision along the natural fold in the skin under the breast. - Breast implants can explode on airplane trips - This is a myth and there is no reason for this one.
While air pressure can affect implants, i.
e.
the higher you go they can get bigger, very small amounts bigger, but there is never a risk of them exploding, planes are pressurised units and as a result the air pressure cannot make them explode. - Breast implants are for life - This is also a myth, implants are not for life and they usually last around ten years.
After ten years it is usually recommended for them to be replaced.
There are a lot of other factors which can influence the life span of the implants but mainly these are faults somewhere which cause the implants to fail or rupture prior to their stated lifespan.
But hopefully we have gone some way to answering these questions for you.
If there is one piece of advice that can be imparted here, is that if you are considering surgical implants the best advice you can receive is from a professionally associated Plastic Surgeon.
He or she will be able to assess and offer the best advice and which surgical procedure will suit you best.
Make sure your surgeon is part of an officially recognised professional body in what every state or country you plan to have your operation carried out in.
