- 1). Choose a silver chain or leather strand that you want to use for your necklace. Necklaces are most commonly made with strands 12 or 16 inches long, but you can pick any length that suits you best. The chain may already come with a fastener, but if it does not make sure to purchase a clasp.
- 2). Pick out a holy pendant -- for example, a cross -- to be the main piece of your holy necklace. The holy pendant can be any size you desire, but make sure the loop that will attach the pendant to the necklace is large enough for the chain or strand to fit through.
- 3). Strand the holy pendant onto the chain or leather strap and allow it to slide down to the center of the necklace strand. Test the length of the necklace by wrapping it around your neck and observing where the holy pendant falls on your neck or chest. This will indicate whether you need to shorten the necklace or perhaps get a longer chain or strand.
- 4). Fasten the necklace behind your neck using the clasp. If you need to add a clasp, securely tie each end of the chain or strand to each end of the clasp before you fasten it.
