Social Media: Extending The Relationship!

Brands are keen on extending their relationship with the customers. If television has always been used as the most potent medium for building the brand, then digital is the medium for establishing the relationship. One way communication is past now, brands are constantly working their way into customer's consciousness by engaging them on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter etc. The power of television can defiantly not be underestimated but using it wisely with online media can enhance the brand recall and boost the sales.  To learn the trade of tricks, let look at some of the brands and see what we can learn from them:

 1. Kurkure: The Company came up with the TVC campaign called "Ingredients of India" and extended it on Facebook.  This application is in a form of a contest which asks the users to guess the perfect mix for its different variants. The application is a fun game and lot of users are participating in the game.

 2. KFC:  In their latest television commercial, a group of youngsters click the picture of their friends as soon as they taste the new KFC Krushers, to capture their expressions. On the same lines the company has build a contest application on Facebook which leads to win a cool iPAD2.  All the user need to do is upload a photo and give it a caption. Every image and caption gets some points and the user with the highest points wins.

 3. Nescafe: Long time back, Nescafe came up with the series of commercial starring Deepika Paudakone and Purab Kohli. These commercials always ended with "What happens next" note and the people were advised to log on to their Facebook page to find out.  People flocked to Nescafe Facebook community and got engaged with the brand.

 4. HTSE :  HTSE also went a step ahead with its online campaign. Continuing with its Television campaign "Runs on Light", it developed a Facebook application where the person gets to wear the watch online, if he/she has a webcam.

 5. Philipis: In its latest TVC commercial John Abraham, the brand ambassador of Philips India, is spotted in different looks promoting Philips Shaver. Extending the same TVC commercial, the company designed an application for its Facebook users where they themselves can try out all the different looks of John Abraham.

All these above example show, how social media especially Facebook has evolved and the potential it holds in the coming future.  The need of hour is to communicate with the customers and social media is an apt platform for the same.
